Data controller

MathAnvil is operated by a Norwegian sole proprietorship. For privacy enquiries, contact us at privacy@mathanvil.com.

What we collect

• Free users: No personal data is collected. A functional cookie (mf_daily) counts daily generations. It contains no personal data.
• Registered users: Email address and password (encrypted with bcrypt). Session cookies for authentication.
• Paying users: Payment information is handled entirely by our payment processor. We never store card numbers or payment details.

Cookies

• mf_daily (functional): Counts daily usage for the free tier limit. Strictly necessary. No consent required.
• Session cookie (functional): Authenticates logged-in users. Strictly necessary. No consent required.
• Analytics (optional): Anonymised usage statistics via Umami. Loaded only after explicit consent.

Third parties

• Anthropic (Claude API): When you use AI features (word problems, detailed explanations), mathematical expressions and numbers are sent to Anthropic's API. No personal data is sent.
• Umami (analytics): Anonymised usage statistics. No personal data. Loaded only after consent.
• Payment processor: Handles payment information directly. We only receive confirmation of subscription status.

Your rights

Under GDPR and applicable data protection law, you have the right to access, rectify, erase and port your data. Contact privacy@mathanvil.com to exercise your rights. We will respond within 30 days.

Data storage

User data is stored on Railway servers (EU/US). PDF files are automatically deleted after 24 hours. Solution links (QR codes) expire after 30 days.

Children

MathAnvil does not knowingly collect personal data from children. The free version requires no account and stores no personal data. Parents and teachers create any accounts on their own behalf.
